I lived in the city of Chicago in the Bucktown/Whicker Park area for a few years. I made amazing connections, learned life lessons, and saw a lot of amazing things. It was a city I felt like I could hang all my hats in. A city that made me a man. I inherited a nice piece of land in Indiana. So with a growing family we decided to leave the city we loved to build a home in the country.
Chicago was so good to me, that when I was leaving it, I wrote the city I love a "letter", I hope people who know chicago well love this song. If there are other people with places dear to their hearts, I hope they can relate to this song.
lyrics
My baby got me feeling bold today
Wrote her name in the snow today
Finally, came in from the cold today
Washed my face, brushed my tooth, decay
Smiling to the bank even
Oh Chicago
I love your heart
Oh Chicago, I love your heart
And everything in it
And all that comes with it
And God willing
I'll see your streets again
Playing in your streets again
Got a surprise today
When I saw the north side, beat the south side today
Finally, opened up my eyes today
Spent the night here doing it right in Wrigley
Smiling ain't a thing is it
Oh Chicago
I love your heart
Oh Chicago, I love your heart
But I got to get moving
And this is my choosing
Can't help going to fell I'm losing
A good friend
Losing some good, good friends
That city moves away
That seems to to sing your blues away
And you can find me
Sailing with a view today
Baby up the Gold Coast, Mag. Mile, momma Michigan Lake
Smiling just a day dreaming
Oh Chicago
I love your heart
Oh Chicago, I love your heart
